The Dead Weather isn’t exactly a well kept secret (that’s best for everyone), but I am consistently amazed at how many people I run into that haven’t heard of them. In case you’re one of those people, this is for you.
The Dead Weather are yet another project of Jack White. This band brings together the talents of White, Allison Mossheart (from the Kills), Dean Fertita (Queens of the Stone Age), and Jack Lawrence (Raconteurs and Greenhornes). Horehound has a sweet 60′s psych rock sound to it. Loads of feedback, Mossheart’s bluesy voice, and some strong atmosphere give the album a strong sense of mysterious badassness. A second album is in the works already, supposedly “halfway done”. On Monday, I Cut Like A Buffalo will be released as a single along with two accompanying videos. It seems that White has been putting loads of effort into this project and the results are fantastic.
Here’s the video for Treat Me Like Your Mother.

James Pants’ second album Seven Seals is set to hit stores December 8th. The funky fresh album was written while studying some crazy mystical books and the book of Revelations. Those influences sparked the desire to start a cult, but instead of heading the way of Halley’s Comet ala Bonnie Trusdale, this album was made. Here’s something fancy for your ears.
Pitchfork is reporting that Chuck Klosterman’s adolescent tale of metal, Fargo Rock City, is getting a film adaptation. Mr. Craig Finn (of The Hold Steady persuasion) is set to co-write this very metallic film. Sure sounds like a 1980′s edition of Dazed and Confused. Delicious if you ask me.
